Pilates For Back Pain

I have recently been getting back pain. When I usually go to the gym I use light weights and the rower machine, which normally strengthens my back. However, I have been struggling doing these exercises as it has been hurting my back.
My friend suggested to me, to go to a Pilates class. I never thought about going to Pilates before this as I never felt it was 'proper' exercise just stretching on the floor, but I decided to go along anyway.
I was pleasantly surprised at the effectiveness. Pilates is a blend of stretching, strengthening and core abdominal work. Its aim is to strengthen the core of your body and to work on your posture. It is very good for someone who has also been injured and needs to build their strength up again and prevent re-injury. I highly recommend it and even when my back pain has gone I am still going to attend the classes!!
