Monopod or Tripods: Which is Better?

In the past, tripods were the industry standard for photographers and monopod use was virtually unheard of. This is changing thanks to the advances in digital photography. With digital cameras, it is now much easier and more practical to take pictures on the go. If you need to take an image suddenly and quickly, then tripods aren’t going to be very helpful. That is where a monopod comes in. With a monopod, you can set up much faster while still getting a good deal of stability for your camera.

A monopod is never going to replace tripods when it comes to giving you a steady shot. Monopods also have a lot of limitations compared to tripods, like the obvious fact that you have to hold onto the monopod. But it is also going to be much more difficult to get a perpendicular shot with a monopod compared to tripods. To get precision with a monopod, you must make sure that your feet are lining up perfectly straight with the monopod going up between them. This can really put a damper on your on the go shooting. There are some cool accessories for monopods that you can get to make shooting easier and more accurate. One of the most innovative is the monopod stabilizing pouch. You wear it around your waist like a belt and, when you want to shoot a picture, put the monopod into the pouch and hold it with one hand. There are also some simple tripods for monopods. You may think that this defeats the purpose of using a monopod but the tripod basically serves as a base and the monopod as the center column so you get everything you need while still saving space and weight.
